Exhibition Opening: Helga Gasser - Polka Dots Helga Gasser (1979, Villach/Austria) belongs to the young generation of Austrian artists who focus again on figurative painting in itself, despite the diversity of contemporary artistic positions and media. Over the past years her artwork has shown that she is not interested in hyperreal photorealism, but uses her own unique style to address genuine topics and create new realities. She captures her personal encounters and observations by combining different graphic and painting methods with excellent craftsmanship. The viewer turns into a voyeur of intimate snapshots of the artist’s surroundings, her everyday life or a special moment in time. Both her exhibition and artwork titles reveal a sense of irony towards her environment and lead the spectator into the middle of every day situations, which often focus on people and their relationships with the world or themselves.
